Supporting every child to achieve

At Brockmoor Primary School, our ambition is that every child achieves exceptionally well, regardless of background or circumstance.

The Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. At Brockmoor, we do not assume that disadvantage automatically means lower attainment. Instead, we identify the specific barriers affecting individual pupils and groups and use funding where additional support can make a genuine difference.

Our approach is built around a simple question: what difference is this making to pupils?

We prioritise excellent teaching, secure foundational knowledge, strong attendance and carefully targeted support. We also ensure that financial or other barriers do not prevent children from participating fully in the wider life of the school.

Our approach

Our Pupil Premium strategy prioritises:

• consistently high-quality teaching across an ambitious curriculum
• early identification and securing of gaps in foundational knowledge
• precise academic support where assessment identifies a specific need
• strong reading, communication, vocabulary and mathematical fluency
• improving attendance where lost learning time is a barrier
• supporting pupils with additional needs without lowering curriculum ambition
• removing barriers to enrichment, trips, clubs and wider opportunities
• developing confidence, independence, belonging and participation in school life

We continually evaluate whether our strategy is working through assessment, pupils' work, attendance, pupil voice, classroom evidence and wider participation.

The test is not simply whether funding has been spent or an intervention has taken place. We want to know what pupils now know, remember and can do better as a result.

Pupil Premium funding

For the 2026/27 financial year, the national Pupil Premium rates include:

£1,550 for each primary-aged pupil who is eligible for free school meals, or has been eligible at any point during the previous six years.

£2,690 for eligible looked-after and previously looked-after children.

£360 Service Pupil Premium for each eligible service child.

Our 2026-2029 Pupil Premium Strategy

Our current three-year strategy sets out the barriers we have identified, how funding will be used, the evidence informing our decisions and how we will evaluate impact.

The strategy is updated annually. It also includes our evaluation of the previous strategy so that future decisions are informed by what has actually made a difference for pupils.

Pupil Premium Strategy 2026-2029 | Year 1: 2026/27

Our Pupil Premium strategy is developed and implemented by the Senior Leadership Team and scrutinised by the Governing Body.

Leaders review implementation throughout the year and evaluate the impact on disadvantaged pupils through achievement, curriculum learning, attendance, participation and independence.

Our Governing Body considers whether resources remain focused on the most significant barriers and challenges leaders about the difference the strategy is making to pupils.
